Looking for a way to get ahead this summer?
Need to do SAT preparation without school year distractions?
Summer at Georgetown Learning Centers
The end of the school year doesn't have to mean the end of the learning process. In fact, summer is often the ideal time to get ahead, catch-up, improve on an old grade, or lighten course loads for the coming year. And Georgetown Learning Centers is the perfect place to make it happen while still preserving room for other summertime activities.
SAT Success Course
- A variety of class times allows students who may work or participate in extracurricular activities to take a class without disrupting their summer.
- Small class sizes benefit those students challenged by a crowded classroom environment.
- Studying for the SAT in the summer is a great way for students to get ready for the test without the typical school year distractions.
- Avoid compounding school year stress by getting SAT preparation done in the summer.
ACT Success Course
Our Summer ACT prep class covers the strategies and content needed to prepare for the ACT Exam. The course provides 24 hours of direct instruction, personalized help in our Study Lounges, and two full-length diagnostic tests. This August, we are offering full ACT Success Courses in Great Falls and McLean, as well as a Condensed course in Charlottesville.
ACT & SAT Jumpstart (Great Falls & McLean)
Discover the right test for your student. GLC's ACT & SAT Jump Start program includes our unique ACT vs. SAT Comparison Test and a private consultation designed to answer your toughest questions and offer guidance on which test will fit your child's skills and personality. Choosing between the SAT and ACT is difficult, but our experienced advice can help your family make an informed decision.
Summer School Support
While GLC does not provide summer courses for credit, we want to offer our support! Enrolling in summer courses through your local school is a great option for students who want to earn credit for classes over the summer. One-on-one tutoring at our center can supplement the summer school curriculum. Students can also use our center as a quiet place to study, where an instructor is available to help work through academic questions.
Personalized Bridge Programs
For students who want to start the next school year on solid footing, a personalized Summer Bridge Program is a great option. With a customized plan, we can introduce students to the concepts they'll face next year in their tougher classes, or revisit the challenging concepts from previous courses. Our bridge programs can also be designed to help a student strengthen specific skill areas, such as reading comprehension or essay writing.
Reading & Writing Workshops (Great Falls & McLean)
At GLC, we understand that student success relies heavily on reading and writing skills and want to help our students sharpen their abilities in these areas. Our Reading & Writing Workshop, designed for rising 8th to 10th graders, is divided into two parts during August:

Algebra II Preview (Great Falls & Charlottesville)
Held in August, this 3-hour Algebra II Preview course helps students start the year on a solid math foundation. Students will be refreshed on the material they learned a year ago in algebra I and will be introduced to the more in-depth concepts they will encounter in algebra II during the first quarter, such as systems of equations, functions, matrices, and polynomial operations.
